Boot into clockwork? Installing the 3G Hotspot Patch
I am trying to install the 3G Hotspot Patch and am new to the droid. How do I boot into clockwork? Is there an idiot's guide to installing this patch? I tried downloading the file to my sd card and booted using the power and home keys but when I tried the update from zip it didn't load the patch. Any ideas what I am doing wrong (btw I am not rooted)

You need to be rooted

You have to be rooted...You must download the app Droid X Recovery Bootstrap from the Market to use clockwork.
If getting the tethering to work is all you want to do for now, root the phone with Z4root and download the free app Wireless Tether from the Market..Here's a thread about Z4root:

You were Ninja'd..LOL...And despite Bootstrapper being worth much more, the price is only $2.00 in the Market.

I was sure I read that the patch could be used without rooting. So much to learn

The patch can be used without root, but you need to root to load clockwork to flash it. You can then un-root if you like.
