Xperia corrupted photos LOST DIR SD

    Dear Rescue Squad

I have a curious problem and I hope someone can help me, my plan to recover my photos may be missing a link

I was travelling and took about a hundred photos with my new Xperia Z 6603 phone which were saved on my Sandisk 32GB Micro SD card

Some photos would not show, so I rebooted the phone (unaware that this may result in corruption). Yes, all the photos were corrupted and appeared under LOST.DIR in my SD card under titles 8216, 8217, 8219 and so on. They have no extension (original should have been jpg)

They still take up the normal space for a JPG photo and there's exactly a hundred. They are just simple files, no extension

I tried to change the extension to JPG, JPEG, PNG for photo formats, ZIP, RAR as I read they may be compressed. I also tried to repair them with JPG repair software. They do not open with any photo viewers, photo editing software either

They do not show up under Recuva, ZAR, Wondershare Dr Fone, or any other recovery programs that scan the SD card FAT32 sectors. They just stay there in the LOST.DIR folder. They are not overwritten as I have removed the SD card

Can they really be gone and its just ghost files? Or are they still my holiday photos that I so desperately need to recover. Is there anyone that experienced a similar problem and is there any way to recover? I wouldn't mind taking my MicroSD to a specialist should it come to that, as those photos are really important

Please help me, i can't believe they would dissapear and be irrecoverable because of a reboot?

    Tony

I had a similar situation where photos disappeared from my Sdcard and I used this http://www.powerdatarecovery.com/dig...-recovery.html to get all my photos back. It won't work for the internal storage but does on the ext sdcard. Trusted software and has helped me many times over.

Hi clothednblack, thanks for your help. It did not work and that software found no files on the SD. They are clearly visible, but I don't know what to do with them

You removed the sdcard from the phone and selected the media options to search for?

Hi Tony, Did you find a solution to your problem.
We have the same problem on my partners phone which is a Samsung Galaxy S3. We have over 900 photos and videos which uses over 10 Gb of space in the Lost.DIR folder ( so as you say they are deffinately there). They have done the same as yours, numbered themselves with no extension. Nothing seems to work. I have renamed with jpg extension but still nothing opens the files. I have tried various apps and software. Im totally stuck and the misses is so upset as he photos are from our holiday and of the kids and we have no copies. GUTTED to say the least.
It happened when I tried moving the files from the internal memory to the sd card. The LOST.DIR folder is on the card and I have removed the card as you did. Also like you I just need to recover the files.
    Someone PLESAE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
