Anyone know why cyanogenmod team is working on CM9 instead of finishing CM7? They never even released a beta CM7 version but they put out CM9?. Will they continue to work on CM7? Im still using alpha 2 on CM7 bc it is the only build that connects to my wifi tether on my droid x. Surely someone here has some helpful info or even any info on how you got wifi tether to work on newer builds or CM9?

Cm9 is based off android 4.0 it's a tablet OS (along with phone OS)
it's the newest there is no reason to continue cm7 when an actual tablet version exists instead of cramming a phone OS (gingerbread) into a tablet

Edit: sorry you were already aware of cm9 being available so my post is REALLY unhelpful haha(watching tv and replying = fail for me).. so I'll ask how is tethering setup on your phone? Which app better question o guess and have you tried Bluetooth tethering?

I'm on cm9 06 and run wifi tether fine with Vortex rc1.

Is that an app? Or the vortex rom? Im using miui. Works fine on everything but my touchpad. I have to stay on cm7 alpha 2 for my tp to connect to my phones wifi.

What version of miui? rom is vortexrc1, using beta 6 apk wifi tether

THey quit working on cm7 because that's old news! CM9 is the future, ICS trumps GB so they're dedicating their time to get all the kinks worked out.

I'd be surprised if they touch CM7 again to be honest.

Miui 2.1.8 is what Im running. This sucks I either have to ditch miui or cm9 on my tp bc they sure as hell are not compatible.

I can't test mine due to poor service, but wizards 2012.2.1 should get you tethering. Whatever you do, don't ditch cm9. There has to be a version of miui you can use.

WOW! I just found another site that showed me how to fix it. I had to download two apps. FXR Wifi Fixer to delete all my wifi settings. Once the settings are cleared I installed ZT 180 Wifi Ad Hoc Switch. Turned on the switch in that app and it connected instantly. This also fixed running cm7 alpha 3 and alpha 3.5 Works great on CM9 as well. Finally someone fixed the biggest issue of all. Now I can travel with my touchpad again. I love whoever fixed this.

Now I can use my favorite rom for my droid x and my favorite rom for the touchpad. CM9 looks and feels amazing on the touchpad. I've been looking for something like this for months.
