God those things weighed a ton. I remember the first hard drive I ever saw was the size of a vinyl record (other ancient tech for you kiddies) and only held a few Megabytes. Everything was on 5.25 inch floppy disks (we had dual drives for those things). Then, when the original Mac came out, they had the 3.5 inch floppy disk drives. It was considered a "portable" computer, but was really just "luggable" because it weighed about 20 pounds, lol.
my first computer had 64k memory, no monitor (it plugged into a tv) the only storage media was a cassette player/recorder, and it didn't have a OS, it was just a BASIC compiler so if you wanted it to do anything other than blink the cursor you had to write your own software.

Sounds like Ye Olde Commodore/Commodore 64. My best friend had one of those things. Useless as far as non-programmers were concerened, but they were significantly cheaper than say, a crApple II+, with monitor, printer and dual floppies. That thing set my parents back a cool 3 or 4 grand back then. Probably the equivalent of 10k or more, now.
