Linden Scripting Language. The original scripting language for SecondLife.

I've always avoided VB for some reason that I can no longer remember. I've not worked with any programming GUI's unless you consider a WYSIWYG HTML editor a programming GUI, and I've avoided those as much as possible, though versions of DreamWeaver post version 8ish made decent HTML code. I don't know what the latest version of FrontPage is but I can't imagine it is any better than the first version.

I know at the district I work for there's a visual C++ class which I'd assume dealt with C++ with a GUI? They also use Alice and Scratch which I'm going to start getting my 7 y/o daughter into I think. Teach her programming without her realizing she's learning to program.

Wug. If you mean VB.net vs C#.net it's all preference. I've seen all the C snobs say how C# is faster, cleaner, smoother & comes with a must get L**D guarantee, but the truth is they both produce MSIL and get run by the .net runtime, so whatever you're most comfortable with. I started in VB many years ago, and then about 5 years ago some consultant convinced the bosses that we had to be C# or we weren't "with it" or some such nonsense. So we a C# shop now. I like it, but it's just another language with it's benefits and drawbacks.

Truthfully I think you should learn Java and develop for this platform

@Gorgarath; Lol WYSIWYG html editor doesn't count.

@cynkrzy; yeah I have heard the C# people. I could learn it.. I just know more VB already. So I will have to decide.

Learning java... hmmm... It would be cool to make apps. I have a lot of ideas that haven't been executed yet. I used to work with a team making iPhone apps.. but I was more of the idea man/ overseer.

Yeah, I didn't think so, but that's as close to a programming GUI that I've come so far.

Setting it up is annoying. I have had problems with it before as well. I think I might have changed its install directory to just C:\java, I'm not sure... I will check out what I did.

Being a lifer in computer programming, out seems that I have fabled in many more languages ... most of what has been listed.

As you can tell, programming languages come and go based on technology.

So, you probably won't spend an extreme amount of time with a particular language before something else comes out.

My best advise would be to think in terms of technique and process flow. Develop standards, then the particular language will become less revelant.

Whew, I need another cup of coffee.
Oh, and I had an addiction to sun flower seeds during those late night marathon programming sessions.
