    Question Linux / DX

I understand that having a Linux machine with my DX will give me some benefits so I'm going to partition the drive on my macbook pro and install Ubuntu. If these supposed benefits are true, what might they be?

I've got a 500gb drive in this thing and don't need that much space so I'd prefer to do the partition/dual boot thing.
