i just tried to flash the MIUI using D2 Recovery and got the same abort message.
I had the file on the sd so thought I would give it a try. I did use the install zip from sdcard option.
Should it be the applysd card update zip option?

You are flashing it right, could be a bad download, try the pc way. Bootstrap recover wait for ok then reboot recovery. Did you flash cwr from rom manager already? I can't recall if that would cause a issue with d2

I am downloading the MIUI v4 2.7.6 from Beanstown.
His link to the Gapps file takes you to Goo.im but the file is not listed. Message says file can not be found.
Is this file required? What does it do?

Btw, the errors I am getting in the aborted ROM flashing say the zip file cannot be opened.
Is there a setting somewhere i need to change?

I just tried to install the MIUI v4 2.7.6
Followed the instructions on the web site.
    Made a backup per instructions.
    Then did a factory reset.
Rom failed to flash as file could not be read, the file was downloaded to pc then copied to ROM directory I created on SD card.
So i tried to restore to my backup and the checksum failed. So i am back to factory reset again. WTH is going on. Nothing is working.

When you say you "created a ROM directory" on your SD card, does that mean you made a folder that you are placing the downloaded ROM in on the card? The ROM should be placed directly on the card, not inside any folder.

I wonder if your sdcard is the issue, is it generic, cracked, or ever given you a problem?
