    Data delivery
    Need to check "Data enabled"

I had the background data checked but not the data enabled.

On plus side, Verizon updated my switching on the network.
They did not push an update on OS to me.
I also had that apk frozen.
    Good to go now!

Next step is to load a new ROM.
    I'll do that tonight.
Thanks to all who have helped me.

I started to prepare for a ROM flash last night. Wanted to make sure I could boot up into Clockwork recovery to wipe the cache.I tried to get ther withDroid X Bootstrap Boot strap recovery option said it was successful Reboot recover option would lock up the phone and a battery removal required to restart the OSTried CMW Rom Manager Reboot into recovery would result in the Android man with the triangle and ! Symbol. This would not respond to the the search key or other buttons.I then selected Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and then reboot into recovery and got to the reboot options. It is running Mod 5.0.2.0I am on GB 605 on my Droid XI presume these are compatible. If so I will proceed with installation of the MIUI 2012.5.12 ROMComments and advice appreciated.

    Proper steps are:

    Open D2 Bootstrap
    Select bootstrap recovery
    Open ROM Manager
    Select update latest clockwork recovery
When device list pops up choose Droid X 2nd init
Then select reboot recovery still in ROM Manager

Your post says you have already done the bootstrap recovery, so DO NOT try to do it again. Just move to the next step.

Well, I think I messed it up.
I downloaded the Rom in zip format and saved it on my sd card.
I followed the instructions on the MIUI ROM page. And went through the deletes and install prescribed.
The install from zip file failed.
I tried to then install using the Rom Manager.
When i did that the phone froze at the reboot step and all I have is the big red and white Motorola symbol.
I pulled the battery and tried a reset but it still freezes at the motorola symbol.

So how do I unbrick this thing now?
Do I need to reflash liberty 605 with the linux image cd I made previously?
    Thanks

You'll need to SBF. Install the ROM through CWM next time.

    Ok,
Just to make sure I don't screw this up, let me get the programs and protocol squared away.
I want to do this one step at a time.
    Please be patient with me!
I did an SBF using Linux cd image
I did a reroot using same cd and it acknowledged a successful root.
Installed Titanium and it said I was not rooted.
How do confirm root after linux cd operation says it was successful?

I just tried to reroot on Linux using the "Droid 3" Method.
It was successful and I now have root. Confirmed by superuser presence and Titanium Pro.
Titanium Pro gave a strange message, said android ID has changed and gave option to revert to previous id or move on with possibility that some programs may need to be reconfigured.

I have stopped here until I receive counsel from y'all.

Regarding installation of ROM using CWM.
Exactly which CWM program are you referring to.

Thanks in advance. It is comforting knowing that I really can't mess this phone up. I am committed to the DX now as my Bride picked up a 4S for her Using my upgrade.

The only CWR program I have is their Rom Manager.
If that is the correct one, then i would need to know how to obtain, copy, paste and handle the ROM zip file. I would like to install the MIUI ROM.
    I am running GB 605.
    Thanks,
    Gary

Never seen the error message in titanium so can't really help with that (though it might be I just ignored it). If it were my phone I would probably not worry about it since you are going to be flashing a rom anyway.

CWM is just recovery. I always boot into recovery and do it that way. Never installed a rom through an app.

I think you are doing it correctly. My guess is a bad download of the original file. I think some of the links were bad but can't remember which ones. People seem to have issues downloading from Goo as well. Do you know how to check md5 sums of downloads?
