New to the site. Have a problem.

My problem is that I was trying to update my existing MIUI rom to the newest version and now it says error:busybox was not created in rootfs and error:/system/bin/sh not found. Now when I installed new rom it said it was finished, so I rebooted. It stays on the Motorola logo screen. I can get into the boot menu, but it will not let me into cwm recovery or rzr recovery. I have tried to continue boot as well, plus the fixes. Nothing works. I need help. Thanks for any input.

You have a droid X correct? Did you delete any system files while on the rom? It sounds like there was a problem with busybox (obviously.) Can you get into the stock recovery screen?

Its a rare known issue with the bootmenu. I believe there's a fix, let me look. If I remember right its typically related to not enough room in /system. You said you were updating MIUI do you remember your previous version? Was it older, like February or before?

If you're trying to install the newest version, you needed to SBF to Gingerbread first. I'm assuming that's your problem. SBF to Gingerbread, then try reinstalling.

I'll try it and get back to you. Thanks for the help.

Gingerbread 2.3.7 is what the existing rom is built upon. So do you think I should still try?

To be honest just doing an SBF will be the easiest solution. The issue is the older MIUI builds like the one you were on the boot menu interfered with CWM and didn't allow /system to mount properly. What this means for you is it basically attempted to add the new MIUI system on top of the existing MIUI system. The error you got was it basically saying the system partition is full.

Getting CWM back will be a hassle. If you have access to the system (if its booting) you can attempt to go in and nuke some stuff in /system and then try re-running the fix in the boot menu and it may save you from the SBF, may not. SBF will guaranteed fix you up though. Just SBF to .602/.605 and install the newest build fresh and you'll be good. Going forward you won't need to worry about the bug, it was squashed in builds sometime ~February of this year (that's why I asked)

Asurion warrantied my phone to an X2, is the 2.6.8 Miui build based off of ICS? That is what I was going to flash it to. Or would you suggest another custom rom?

OOOOOH you have an X2. Welp I'd go with Cliff's suggestions then. I'm not familiar with the X2 ROM scene. The error you mentioned was really common for MIUI for the X a long time ago which is what I assumed it was. If its an X2 though I'd follow through with Cliff's suggestions.
