Intro...
Just wanted to say Hey, I just signed up because I am looking for the 411 on foreverroot for my Droid X. I did a search but it didn't bring anything up except for Droid X2. I am trying to protect my rooted Droid X from losing root on updates.
Looks like an awesome forum, will do lots of reading, yes, I am new to Android but very tech wise with Mac/PC/Linux software/hardware, just learning Phones now

Why hello Brent
But you'll always loose root on updates. Motorola make their ota (over the air) updates very strict to where you cannot update while rooted with bootstrap installed. There's lots of terms you'll get to know soon enough.
Have fun

I used the one click root, haven't installed bootstrap, should I? So your saying it won't let me or won't auto update on me if I am rooted, so I am already protected on my root? Hope so, because 2.3.3 is just fine with me. Working on memory and cpu now, got it going ok, but only have around 31mb open at most times.

You are correct. And I seriously doubt the x is getting another update. If your on 2.3.3 version .605 then you'll be on the latest version and I doubt they'll be another one.
Bootstrap is the means of installing a custom rom (for instance 2.3.3 is called stock gingerbread, 2.2.1 (the previous one) is called frozen yogurt.) A rom is just a os for the phone. Like Linux has many versions you can run, there's many versions of android to run.
