    Text Notification Sound

Ok, so I finally am having a problem that I have not seen addressed anywhere on here so maybe I ask the only one.

I just realized that my text Notification is not playing sound. I get the icon in the status bar but no sound. I checked in settings and for some reason it shows silent as my notification and I try to go in and choose a notification and it will not change from silent.

I also went into settings, sound, and volume settings and here is where it gets odd. If the to selector is switched to "off" for notifications, the volume of notifications can be adjusted but when it is rifled to "on" the volume for notifications is shaded out. I have tried every combination can and nothing gets my texts messages to come in with sound.

    Is anyone having this issue?

Go into sound settings and check the option that says "use incoming call volume for notifications" and see if that helps. If not, you can download a volume manager such as AudioManager and give that a shot... otherwise I would do a factory reset

Yeah, i don't have any option to use my ringtone volume for notifications unless that is what that first toggle is for. Either way I finally realized that I have to put my notification for texts on default. If I try to change it, it goes silent. But now my g talk won't change to be different from text.

I guess if I have to factory yeast I will but was hoping to avoid that.

I was about to post the same problem. My sms ringtone says silent and when changing to a different ringtone it always goes back to silent. Never noticed this problem until today and I haven't frozen anything.

Yeah, i didnt freeze anything either. My sms would always go to silent unless I selected the default ringtone. Also, my gtalk could not change to be different than sms. Nothing I did worked so i flagged back to 22. Although I really did like the ability to hide apps and password protect apps too that 29 offered.

Still having the same problem with version 8.5 but I just moved all my ringtones from the system folder to my music folder and used music a my selection method and that works.

I have sound and vibration working fine on 85. Settings > Sound & Vibration > Ringtones > Notification Ringtone, set one if its on none/silent - mine was after installing.

Check if the notification volume is on too. Its under 'all volume'

    MIUI FTW!

Yeah, i did all that too for the default notification but if I tried to change the notification sound for individual apps like sms, gmail, and gtalk, it would not work. They had to be on the default sound and all the same. If I tried to change one to something else, it would go to silent.
