Milestone x root help

I've been reading alot the past week trying to get this thing rooted. I've tried many one clicks and the z4root just no luck. Im tempted to try easy root but I dont want to pay and it not work. I've rooted two other htc phones but this is my first Motorola. Im on Alltel and running android 2.2

Have you tried Gingerbreak already? It works on Froyo as well as some gingerbread builds.

Also found this as a free alternative to easyroot..supposed to work just as good if notbetter than easyroot Software2Tech.com » Android Root Apps: Updated Universal Androot (V1.5.3) was Release and Available for Download

Ok I have root. Gingerbreak worked flawless. Now its geting recovery. I tried to use rom manger to get clock work but for some reason its not flashing over.

Rom manager doesn't usually work for getting into recovery..you would need Droid x bootstrap or Droid 2 bootstrap. I'm not not sure if thoe would work on the milestone though.

I've been reading around and the specs are the exact same just the only difference I think is the verizon name
