cm7 on milestone x

Okay so I've been working on this for days now and can't get it right...here's what i'm doing:
1) SBF with Alltel's SBF for the Milestone X
2) Root with Superoneclick
3) Install Rom Manager and flash recovery (droid x)
4) Install Droid X Bootstrapper
5) From recovery, flash CM7 per instructions above

After that, everything I try to do gives me probelms....here's where I stand: I can't get the new recovery to stick at all, and most importantly, SWYPE DOES NOT WORK! I can install the beta fine but I can't check it in settings. If I check it and reset it from that screen, it sticks, but then I can't select swype as the keyboard. I know other people are having issues with the new recovery but this phone is nothing but a effing headache to use without swype...especially with that POS stock keyboard. Am I having problems because I'm not on the right kernel?

no, I also have not been able to keep the new Clockwork to stick so what you do to install is go to install zip choose the clockworldrecovery folder and in the folder their should be a file called update.zip and it will install the new clockwork. I do not know about swype because I do not use it but I have heard people having problems with swipe with CM4DX, I heard using the newsiest swype beta will work
