Thinking about rooting

Thinking about rooting my DROIDX, any suggestions/comments? Im kinda a Noob in the DROID world

What is your system version? Got to Settings --> about phone. It should end in either .602 .605 or. 621.

Ok then you want to make sure to use this root method [How To] Root 4.5.621 with magic md5 (does not require Milestone SBF)

You could SBF to Milestone .604 if you wanted to but that is a lot of extra work. The link i posted above will have you download a file, burn it to a disc and boot your computer from the disc. Then you just follow the onscreen instructions and you are rooted. Rooting opens up your phone to a whole new level of customization and the world of custom roms. If you are comfortable with the instructions above i would say go for it. (There isn't a whole lot than can go wrong simply rooting. Worst case scenario the root fails.)

Not to hijack the thread but i am also looking to root my phone, i am also running 4.5.621. I noticed that you have posted a working root method for this but was wondering if you could still run MIUI and other roms with a rooted 4.5.621 version.

Yes, you can run any 2nd init ROM on rooted 621.
