Installing VorteX from SBF .621

Hi, I bought a Droid X off eBay about three months ago and I'm new to Android in general.
I'm a bit fed up with the stock firmware and bloatware, so I'd like to install VorteX.

The system version is 4.5.621

From what I've read so far, this is what I should do:

1. Backup my SMS/Contacts etc.
2. SBF to Milestone X .604
3. Root (using what method?)
4. Install Clockwork Recovery (what is this exactly?)
5. Flash VorteX (how do I do this?)

This will answer all your questions! Important Info for .621 Update!

Except #4. Clockwork Mod recovery is a different recovery menu that lets you flash zips that aren't flashable in the standard recovery (all of them pretty much, haha) and also make complete backups of your system. It is your friend.

The clockwork mod you will need specifically is Droid 2 Bootstrapper (ignore the fact it says its for the Droid 2, Droid 2 is basically the same hardware as the X, but smaller screen and physical keyboard, so they use the same Bootstrapper) its a few $$ in the Play Store, but its needed.

Jeems linked thread will tell you how to root and how to get blur-based ROMs for the .604 hack. In case you missed it, you have to use a special version of Vortex. Its listed in that thread, but if you missed it, the direct link to THAT thread is here (after your on the .604 hack and rooted)
