@egghead
I have the same problem... I had that same idea myself, about pulling the phone off the dock THEN unplugging the audio cable. It works sometimes for me, but not often. There has got to be some kind of setting somewhere to turn that crap off, if not, then there must be either a bug in gingerbread, or the docks are the problem. I hope someone has a solution.

You could try using tasker and create an exit task to set speakerphone off when undocked

alright be gentle folks becauase im new here. Ive been having the same issue as all of you since the update. Ive tried every combination of removing the phone, cord, shutting off before removing it.....everything. Ive tried the car dock preferences and they are useless too. Finally i called verizon and spoke to someone very helpful. Unfortunately she wasnt helpful enough. We put the phone in safe mode thinking it may be an app that is activating the speaker icon. sadly that didnt help at all. She is calling me back on sunday evening to address the issue. If by some miracle she has a fix for it ill make sure to post for all of you. Good luck people!!

I have the same problem...the only thing that works for me is to take it off the dock before I unplug the audio cable. this will not work if you unplug the jack act any time while being docked. Once its on the dock and plugged in you have to take the phone off the dock, then unplug the audio cable. It took a little while, but now I do it without thinking about it so its not that big a deal, but its something that should be fixed.

I've tried that too. It keeps popping up anyway. I know its such a small thing but it can be aggravating as hell.

well to follow up on my last post. removing the phone from the dock then unplugging the aux cable is working most of the time. after a follow up call to verizon they still hadnt heard of anyone having this issue. so thanks people for the help with my phone.

I do the same thing. I just called Verizon right now and tech support doesn't have any fix for it. I guess I'll try and do what someone else said, and take it off the dock, then remove the audio cable for listening to music in my car. It's probably just a glitch and may be rectified with the next update. :/
