Wifi Stops working after 3-5 minutes

I recently upgraded to .596 using the two part method from TBH. I did a sbf to get back to stock froyo, wiped everything multiple times, rooted with z4 and upgraded to rooted .596. Since that point I have had several issues.

1. The phone runs very hot and drains battery incredibly fast. (May have fixed)
2. When using wifi the connection only seems to last for 3-5 minutes. After this point although the phone still shows up as being connected to the network, webpages / youtube / anything internet related fails to load. To fix this I can cycle wifi or restart the phone. Any ideas on what could be causing this.

What I have tried so far:
1. Removed all remembered networks and added it back in.
2. Several Restarts / Airplane Mode Cycles
3. Made sure phone wasn't turning of wifi when screen off, although the problem occurs even is screen remains on.

Any help would be awesome,

What is your wifi sleep policy?

Currently it is sleep when screen turns off, but I have also tried using never. The problem occurs even is the screen remains on, for example watching a youtube video. After a few minutes the video will simply stop buffering even though though I am still connected to the network.

I was having the issues with my wifi disconnecting every 5-10 minutes after updating to gb as well. I did several things and it's been good for about a week now. At least from my home wifi anyway.

First, download a free app from the market called Wifi Analyzer. Run it and see if there are other wifi signals on the same channel you are on. Next go into your router and set it to a specific channel and not auto. You might want to try different channels to see what works best because there are other wireless things you may have that mess with the signal. ie I have a pair of wireless headphones that mess with my signal when I'm on channels 9-11 so I set my router to channel 1.

Second, I went into the router and reserved a specific IP address just for my droid.

Third, I set the wifi sleep policy on the droid to never. I just manually turn it off when i leave the house.

Not sure if one or all that helped my situation but all I know its working and I'm not touching anything else.

I would like to add that I didn't have the phone running hot or the battery draining fast issues you're having so it may be something else.

I will have to try the router settings but I would prefer to find a solution that doesn't require me to touch my router. I just tried to do a wipe data / cache and try the wifi before installing any apps and I had the same problem. I think I need to find another signal to try and make sure that it is not just my wifi.

As for the battery problem, it is quite severe, to the point where my phone will drop 10 percent in ten minutes. Any Ideas?

No luck with anything i have tried. Even did a wipe data and still the problem persists.

My brother was having trouble staying connected to his router, thought it was his phone. My phone stays connected to my wifi all the time. Went to his house, my phone disconnected from his wifi.
I changed the secuirity on his router to wpa/wpa2 personal, works fine now.

My dad also has a droid X which I upgraded in the same manner, and his phone connects to the wifi and stays connected fine, runs really fast. I have no idea why mine is having such a problem. Everything was good before froyo so I don't think I should have to tweak the router.

Ok so I was finally able to test me phone on another wifi network and the phone worked fine, so now I am quite confused. My dads droid x works on my wifi but my phone doesn't and my phone does work on others.
