Here's a graph I made depicting the upgrade paths to GB, click to zoom in:

(EDIT for additional info: You CANNOT use the maderstcok.zip file to get to 2.3.340 then to .596 directly, it's missing some files apparently, and have put users, including myself, into bootloops or straight to bootloader mode, thus requiring an SBF. You may be able to use the TBH Monster340.zip however, as I successfully used it to get to stock, then upgraded directly to .596 from there, but there are other reports of it acting just like maderstcok for some users.)..

UPGRADE PATHS

Method One
The first method to upgrade to gingerbread from froyo is to sbf you phone back to stock froyo (2.3.340) and await for the upgrade OTA. (BAD IDEA [no root method])

Method Two
The second method to upgrade to gingerbread from froyo is to sbf you phone back to stock froyo (2.3.340) and use the 2 install files from below.

Method Three
The third method is for anyone currently running a Gingerbread leak (588/591/595). You can just install the appropriate zip right over the top of your previous build.


IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE MOST CURRENT RADIO .12P THEN YOU WILL NEED TO SBF BACK TO .340 AND THEN USE METHOD 2.

None of this would be possible without the BUBBA and many others, so we all say thank you very much.

Basic Directions:

Dowload the zip
Reboot phone into Clockwork Recovery
Install the Zip file.

You must follow the directions exactly to the letter, if you do not I can not guarantee the results. Please do not post questions here if you have not read the directions below. Before beginning ensure that you understand the directions that you have read.

Good now that you have read above the you are ready to proceed.

1. Your phone must be in the following condition before you can use the patched updater.

1.Your phone is running the 2.3.340 official Froyo Firmware
2.Your phone has been rooted
3.Your phone is using the Droid2 Bootstrap program (Do Not Use DroidX Bootstrap)

Install part 1 and then part 2 before leaving recovery!!

Yep, I installed .596 Deodexed right over .591 Liberty v.5, didn't even wipe, everything works great.

Will this break the netflix app? Should I do a restore beforehand?

I restored my stock rooted backup and also did the maderstck.zip and both of them have a radio# of. 07? Is this right?

Ok cool. I already grabbed the 596deodexed file (162mb). I guess my last question is, Can I flash the stealth rom again after I do this or will it not be compatible?

It sounds like folks are having success putting .596 OVER top of .595 Roms. If you do it the other way around, .595 will overwrite parts of the .596 update...

Personally, I'm waiting until a Rom is written specifically for the .596 build...
