All rooting with gingerbreak will do is run the app and reboot your phone when its finished. There's really no harm in it. What you do with root access is where you should be cautious.

I may seem dumb, but how do I know if it worked or not? Everything seemed to go smoothly. I opened gingerbreak after the reboot and it was requesting superuser access. I of course granted it. So now what do I do lol.

I feel like such an ass! You guys are like geniuses and here I am shaking in my boots that I don't jack something up lol!

That's it. You're rooted if you got a superuser access prompt.

Im rooted now. It worked great so far. I overclocked my phone to 1.25ghz low voltage. Any tips on how to save battery life with root?

I have 4.5.596 OTA and I have ran Gingerbreak 1.2 several times now and it just runs and runs. I stop it at 20 mins w/no auto reboot. I manually reboot and check to see it there is SU and no luck. Any ideas.
