I downloaded the drivers then clicked the zip file downloaded that and it cancels the instal and says this shortcut no longer refers to a valid website or file"..

this is what i followed step 2 is what im talking about any clues

1. Make sure you have Motorola drivers installed - [Download Drivers]
2. Download and unzip ‘Droid 3 easy root script v5′ - [Download 1-Click]
3. On your phone: Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging(check box)
4. Plug phone into computer and select “Charge Only” mode
5. Navigate to ‘Droid 3 easy root’ folder and run ‘Click to root your Droid 3.bat’
6. Now just follow the instructions in the command window and unlock the phone after each reboot.

Is it a dumb question to ask if this root will wipe all my information? I have rooted it in the past and it didn't. Now that it has the 2.3.3 I need to do it again and can't find if it will wipe everything or not.

Running the root exploit will not wipe any of your info

np. Some ppl have had a small problem rooting if the X has been rooted before the update. The second postn here has the instructions if you have an issue

I am now rooted on .602 with a combination of one-click and command-line stuff. I had waited 3 months (I was on Froyo) until there was a way of rooting the OTA release -- I just didn't trust the hacked, 2-part ROM. But I have to say, other than the different colors and quicker animation, I don't notice any substantial differences between Gingerbread and Froyo. My battery life is unchanged. Phone speed is the same. Boot up is considerably slower. And wifi tether no longer works, not that I used it much (I carry a USB cable for EasyTether). But Titantium Backup still works, and that is good.

Long time reader, first time poster here. I decided to root my phone, and noticed that SBF'ing is no longer necessary but the way Im seeing to root the phone now seems alot more complicated than it was. Would someone be kind as to post newbie steps on how to do it on .602 now? (technologically impaired)
