Motorola announced today that if your X is rooted with the 2.2 you won't see the OTA update until you put it back to stock with 2.1. Take it for what its worth but from all the problems going on here I don't see the point in putting it in.

announced yesterday, and easy to revert back to stock 2.1.
its just Motorola threatening early adopters, which I find extremely odd.
This is like the 40th thread on this. Come on, do a search!

Droid Does!!!
Droid X-Blackberry Curve- EnV2- Razr- some other random phones I cannot remember!
See, I disagree with it being a threat. The info even said that "unless you have a way to flash back, you might be stuck with it." I read it--and still read it--as a heads-up that you can't upgrade from a leak (which makes sense since the device already knows it has 2.2) and is intended to head off floods of complaints from users (who "shouldn't" be altering their phones to begin with ;-) ) complaining about why they can't upgrade and are stuck with an unofficial build.
We're already seeing tons of these panicked threads. It's just pre-emptive damage control. And it didn't say that if you've got 2.2 now that you're ****ed. Just flash back or live with the leak.
I'm all for modding my device, but from a business standpoint why would I want to run around like a madman trying to make patch after fix after patch (a la HTC) to make my official software work with phones running unofficial software?
This whole thing shouldn't get anyone's panties in a bunch. Those that want official still have a way to get it. Those who want unofficial can keep it and wait for devs to hack the official. Whatever path one chooses is still open.
