menu>settings>about phone, you will also need all the bloatware installed
so what should all of the info look like if it's on stock.? and bloatware such as.? sorry if im slow at this. last time i tried installing a gingerbread leak and my x full on bricked and i now have a replacement and i dont wanna do the same thing again
If you haven't rooted, you haven't removed bloat, and you'll be stock Froyo
i have rooted but i took out the root. so does that count.?
What did you do when it was rooted. Did you get rid of that dumb blockbuster app (or anything like that), then you're not stock.
no i don't believe i touched any of that stuff, lol. made no use for me so i just left it
i just used the root for wifi tether, screenshots, ad-blocker, and root explorer
What, specifically are you looking to do. Are you looking to upgrade to stock gingerbread, or the rooted version. Or are you looking to be stock Froyo?
If you just want the stock, unrooted GB, download the signed stock file. Put that on your sdcard, boot into stock recovery, and select install update.zip. If you're stock, it will install, if you're not, it won't
If you want the rooted version, download and install via droid 2 bootstrapper
I'm trying to make sure i'm on stock froyo so that way i can update it to rooted official gingerbread. but last time i tried that with a leak and my x bricked, so i got a replacement phone. and now im trying to make sure that it doesnt happen again. so what im mainly trying to do it update it to the rooted official gingerbread .596
or i wouldnt mind upgrading to the stock gingerbread, but if i do that, is there a way to root it afterwards.?
We don't have a root method yet, probably will in the future. As long as you are stock and follow the directions you shouldn't have any problems getting to .596
