Stuck @ M logo & Starting RSD Protocol Support

Ok, I have searched the forums and came up empty on my particular error / issue. So I started a new thread. I try not to repost.

    History:
    - Purchased phone used and in present condition. No history known, yet.
    - No matter how you turn the phone on, it boots to the M logo and "Starting RSD Support Protocol" at the top of the screen in white letters.
    - I tried all methods of turning it on. Pressing the power button alone. Pressing power and volume up or volume down. Pressing the Power button, volume Up & Down. etc. You get my point. Same result.
    - I can not get into recovery.
    - I can not boot into the OS.
    - This is not my first rodeo (Google G1, Moto Droid, HTC Aria, Moto Droid X, Samsung Galaxy S2, Moto Xoom, HP TP w/ Andy) and this Moto Droid X2. I by no means am proclaiming I am an expert, but I can find my way around fairly well.
    - I have used the RSD and SBF functionality in the past.

I have tried to RSD all of the SBF's (From Froyo to 2.3.5 GB) to no avail. I have read and tried suing the ezSBF, and various versions of the RSD tool from 5.3.x - 5.7. As soon as it reboots after final flashing, same screen appears as noted above.

My only thought is that maybe, since no matter which way you power on this device it goes into RSD, maybe a button is stuck so it always sees it as being powered on via the power + "stuck button."

    Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for any help in advance.

BTW, awesome forums. I have been a lurker for quite some time and have gotten some great advice/tips about my DX from this site.

    John

More Info: Only way to power it down is to "gank" the battery. Once plugged into wall outlet, automatically powers on. Attempts to SBF flash were done with a battery with 90%+ charge. I think that covers everything.

Well to talk about your stuck button theory it would be the volume down button... however that would bring up "fast boot" at the top of your screen. Where it says starting RSD protocol can you scroll through any options using the volume keys?

If not it really sounds like you may have a defective phone... Did you purchase it from a trusted source?

Couple of thoughts, are you using the stock cable while trying to SBF? Also what is your battery status? (last known.)

Volume keys do not scroll through any options at initial boot screen.

Got it from ebay. Seller said it was being sold as parts phone. Got it cheap.

USB cable is from a Moto Droid and I charged the battery in my Moto Droid X to 100% before attempting SBF.

    Thanks for your help.

LOL Yeah, pretty much. It has a bad ESN too. I was going to use it as an MP3 in my "mancave."

Here is the feedback from the seller:
"It was running a alpha 3 version of CM9(ICS) made for the droid x2, the
battery drained to the point the phone shut it self down. This happened
once before but the first time it happened I pluged it into the wall plug
and it started up normally. this time it doesn't seem to come out of RSD
support mode no matter what I did to it."

Anyway, any other thoughts. I am thinking I am pretty much up the river without a paddle. But hey, I am open to suggestions.

I'm out of ideas. I was checking the internet after your post and saw that Verizons response to this problem was to ship out a new phone... I think it's toast... If the battery can handle it, just keep trying to SBF. Take out the battery and plug it in in as many ways as you can think. Maybe out of the blue it will come back to life. Who knows.

Stuck at M screen RDS protocol support

I was reading this thread and have the same problem. I had to sbf back to 2.2.2 to get out of safe mode. Volume button doesn't work back button is mapped with volume down button. It's one of the droid x2 that was messed up from the last update. Clean ESN and I installed Button savior and rooted when I sbf back to froyo 2.2.2 from gingerbread 2.3.5. People say you can't do that well I did and it worked. Any way phone worked fine other than the button problems. Worked fine for 2 weeks every day usage. Now I was on wifi connected to the internet and it started acting sluggish and locked up. No sbf flashing will bring it back. Think it caught a bug or something. Tried my other phone on the same hot spot connection phone started to do the same thing so I got off that connection. The problem is somewhere I believe in the boot loader it's not a fried phone as suggested. Phone worked perfect until the update. I'm sure with RSD lite, QPST, an CDMA, there is a way to fix the phone, I have used RSD a lot the other two once on a optimus V. I'm not to knowledgeable with QPST an CDMA but I'm sure there's a way by looking at the function of the two programs the phone can be fixd. I guess since Verizon gives replacements no one cared to tackle this problem, I want to tackle it just need help. Any Ideas.

I don't know where you heard you can't SBF back to 2.2.2 from 2.3.5 because that's not true (as you know.) Can't really.help you with the other programs though... good luck.

I can't remember where I seen that. But there was a post on a forum somewhere that somebody said you couldn't SBF back. I did find some helpful info from Verizon support. If touching the 4 corners won't bypass the activation screen tap the center screen before the Droid activation screen. What I did was kept tapping the center of the screen fast right after the phone would vibrate during the Droid eye symbol. You have to do it before the phone receives a signal at the activation screen. Hope this helps people where touching the four corners won't work.

Or you can turn the phone off, hold volume down and power up, navigate down to start android no BP. Bypasses activation too.
