Modem Did Not Power Up Error - Need Assistance

So I have a bit of a problem. I will explain the timeline of events. Any assistance anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Roughly a week ago I rooted my stock 2.3.4 X2 using the one click method. Click Here for Example.

    No issues with that.

Yesterday I decided I wanted to install the CM7 rom This method.

I began flashing the 2.3.4 SBF using my Windows 7 64-bit machine with RSD 5.4.4. It completed flashing groups through the G65. It then attempted to switch to bypass mode. I received this error "Error switching phone to BP Pass through mode(0x70BE)" and it failed.

I have since updated the QHSUSB Driver and tried again. Still no luck.

Tried multiple computers and it still kept failing.

I have also tried booting into Ubuntu and was supposedly able to load the SBF using SBF_FLASH successfully. I say supposedly because the terminal acts as though there were no issues and it completes, but the phone still doesn't work.

When I boot up the X2 now, I get the error "Modem did not power up (1) Starting RSD protocol support".

I have the ability to get to the recovery menu and such so I am hoping there is some avenue I can take to get back to a functioning phone. Please let me know if you can help!

    Thanks!

I am also able to boot into the android OS by using the Boot Android (No BP) option on the boot menu. Everything in the actual OS seems fine, just no signal.

Are you sure you have the correct sbf file?

    Had this file worked previously?

Have you tried downloading the sbf file from a different source?

Are you using the cable that came with the phone?

I am fairly certain it's the correct file. Using VRZ_MB870_4.5.1A-DTN-150-30_1FF_01.sbf

I have not personally used it before.

I have downloaded multiple versions of this file and attempted with all of them. Still no success.

    Well, that certainly sounds strange.

You can try one of the following:

Uninstall rsdlite, moto drivers, etc. basically anything to do with your phone. Reboot your computer. Follow the download links in my sbf guide and install the rsdlite, sbf file and drivers I have supplied, reboot one more time and attempt the sbf again.

The other option, which you've kinda already tried, is download and burn 1KDS' Linux EzSBF iso. This method will use a live cd Linux distro that has the proper sbf_flash and sbf file already included.

Yeah, I am getting the feeling I am just screwed. I am making one last ditch effort to get it working using your sbf and drivers. I figured at this point I have downloaded and done this at least 10 times anyway. Might give the 1KDS Linux idea a shot, but I can't see it doing anything different than what I have already done. I assume it just automates the chmod command and the execution command. We'll see, I may just fold and get Verizon to send me a new (read refurb) one.

If "my" version of rsdlite and drivers don't do it, a refurb is more than likely in your future.

This is the first time I've heard of this happening, my best guess is it's truly hardware failure (flash memory/ramdisk gone bad)

But seeing as it's failing on the final code group, the radio, something likely went bad there hardware wise. On the plus side, any traces of root should be wiped out since the majority of the flash is successful, provided you factory reset. Sooooo getting a refurb should be no problem.

Yeah, I am kind of thinking along the same lines. I think there is an issue with the radio hardware. Being that I can completely boot and use the phone as normal once I flash it, minus the cell connection. I can even connect to my wireless and use it that way. But I didn't want it as a tablet unfortunately lol. When I do boot into the android OS it shows my baseband, PRL and ERI as being "unknown". I am guessing that means that hardware is toast.

I attempted using the 1KDS Linux ISO, same result. Script said it completed successfully, but still won't boot past the modem error. Off to Verizon store!
