Why does my phone randomly reboot

Simple as the topic. Once in a while my phone will reboot itself and sometimes it will shut itself off and not comeback on unless I pull the battery. This phone has let me be late for work twice. I can't trust it to be my alarm any more, I had to buy a clock lol. I love my phone other then this only problem. Any help is appreciated.

Maybe some background info. Rooted? Running any roms? What version are you on? Could be either hardware it software, so this info could help.

Well im going to assume no root just because of your post count

Make sure that you dont have numerous amounts of apps pulled up at the same time. Thats what causes it to freeze alot.
What i would suggest is to reboot right before you go to sleep because that will close everything.
unless you decide to root theres not much you can do to help.

Random reboots are a known bug in 2.2.2 and 2.3.3 especially either while plugged in or after being plugged in. One fix is to reboot after unpluging, the bug has something to do with the charging sequence so a reboot after unplugging clears the bug.

The only real fix is by upgrading the software to 2.3.4. This can be done by you and a computer. This will greatly diminish the problem, after upgrading I've had no issues while plugged in and far fewer after unplugging. I still recommend rebooting after unplugging but I think you'll find the problem will be fixed by upgrading and reboot after unplugging.

Here's links to what you need to upgrade. X2 finally gets 2.3.4

Thanks for the help, iv been intrested in rooting my phone and using it to its full potential. Right now my phone is basically stock no root access and what ever software that it automatically updated too. I belive the 2.3.3. Whats the advantages root access and the 2.3.4 software?

I also noticed my reboot problems mostly happen when its plugged in and charging. Ill try restarting my phone more often and see if it helps

    Thanks

You don't needed to be rooted to upgrade, all you need is the motorola drivers, the sbf file, rsdlite, a computer and about an hour of free time. Everything is free and available for download (except for the computer and time, those are up to you) via the link I shared and the sbf tutorial link that's in that post.

Rooting gives you total access to the operating system so you can tweak things. For example something I always do is copy a modified font file to my phone that will show emoji characters instead of the blank rectangles. That's just one small example of what you do with a rooted phone.

It asked me to install thats it. It had everything else ready.

Since the update last week. My phone rebooted itself one time and that was this morning. Don't know why it was 45 minutes after I pulled it off the charger. I saw it happen while I was driving down the road.
