Three issues post 2.3 pre-rooted update

After successfully updating to the pre-rooted 2.3 im having three issues:
    1. redraw issues with launcherpro (paid version) still persist. I tried using v6 but this caused a boot loop which a factor reset fixed.
    2. widgetlocker occasionally when waking the phone appears in edit mode. Never had this problem before. I have disabled long press for edit but that hasn't helped.
    3. can't delete bloatware bookmarks. I looked up directions in the Droid X forum however the same steps no longer work
This is not to say i regret updating. Loading times for most processes and apps are much faster.

I can help with your re draws, unfortunately not the other 2 things.

This is assuming you have a basic understanding of terminal, 3 simple commands, as always in terminal everything is case sensitive. A typo in the right place can cause a bootloop so if you do this, check, double check, and triple check before you hit enter. Open terminal emulator and issue these 3 commands, a new line is a new command so you're hitting enter after each command.

    su

    echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop

    reboot

That's it! Remember everything is case sensitive! Now a description of what each command does.

su: grants super user privileges, needed to modify any system files

    echo: prints the proceeding lines

    >>: directs preceding line to a file specified after the >>

    reboot: self explanatory

So what this basically does is add the line "ro.HOME_APP_ADJ= 1" to the /data/local.prop file. What this line does is assign the launcher, what ever launcher you're using (stock, go, llp, adw, it doesn't matter), a higher memory priority. In parlance it's "locking" the launcher in memory at the kernel level.

    Cheers

I haven't used the terminal before. Do you have a link to an overview that I could read? Otherwise ill just search it and do some background research.

I presume I can sbf if I bootloop.

Sbf would be last choice. You can make sure you can boot to custom recovery and use adb you restore the local.prop file, also you could restore a nandroid back up, a bit extreme for just changing one file, that's why adb is the easiest. Either way you have to make sure you can access custom recovery (just make sure in the system recovery app you're last choice was recovery mode, easy way to test is turn your phone off, and plug it in. if it boots into recovery you're good, if you see the battery charge mode, you need to reboot and set up the custom recovery again.) And yes if all else fails, sbf. But as long as you cover your bases you 1) shouldn't bootloop 2) if you do, custom recovery will save you.

Alright terminal went fine. I'll give it a couple days and see if I notice a difference. Honestly Im just waiting for a good custom rom like cyanogen or liberty and then i'll kiss motorola's build goodbye

    Indeed, death to blur!

Hope I didn't make you nervous with all my boot loop talk lol. It's actually a tiny risk situation and the risk is all about typos, as long as the directions are followed nothing should go wrong. As you found out :-). I just wanted to make you aware that the risk does exist.
