So far I have not been able to successfully get the the startup sound to change or go back to the stock DROID sound. I have seen many posts regarding this my only problem is I no longer have a computer. I was wondering if there is anyone who has successfully changed the sound and who can walk me through the process.

I would just download rom toolbox pro or there are some free boot animation changer apps. I haven't used them, but look at reviews to see a good one. Rom Toolbox comes with quite a few animations. You might have to find files for the others.

I actually have romtoolbox and I can change the animations just fine, but there is never any sound with it.

Not all the animations in ROM toolbox have sound. Have you tried one with sound? I didn't think the stock animation had sound but it's been so long I can't remember for sure.

If you have root explorer or something similar you should be able to go in and put whatever you want. Not near a computer at the moment so I don't remember the exact location... if anyone knows please step in and help, if not I'll post back tonight.
And Jeems the original boot animation for the x2 was the red droid eye and the "droid" sound.

I have tried some with the sounds but they still didn't work.
As far as the root explorer I do have it and the boot animation is stored in: system/media. I have seen many posts saying the sound is an mp3 a .wav and an .ogg, and have tried them all along with the various locations to no avail.

System/media/audio/notifications is the folder. It can be whatever format, but the bootanimation txt file has to have a line for sound to be enabled.
