Happy new X2 owner and now rooted on 2.3.5. Concerned over available memory

Hate seeing the x2 hacks forum slowing down but I do understand because many of you active contributors have moved onto newer and assumed better things. I have only owned a Dx2 about 5 days because verizon upgraded me from a intermittently quirky DX via the warranty program. I was considering an upgrade anyway but since I paid the insurance on DX it would be stupid not to at least retire a phone in good working order before throwing in a drawer for a spare considering insurance was paid all this time. I have to say that I already feel like I did upgrade and dont even have 4g. Between the dual core processor, available SBF iso files, root tools thanks to this forum, I feel like I just got a major upgrade for free from the DX and do not feel any need to upgrade just yet. Next billing cycle I may even drop the insurance since these phones can be picked up used so reasonable. I am also shocked at how cheap I am finding OEM hdmi docks, car kits, and NEW original batterys on ebay. Who cares about battery life when there is always a spare charging on the wall and another one in my pocket ha

I am totally new to the customization and root aspects of this phone. So far I have OTA Rootkeeper and Titanium backup pro that really saved me when I got carried away deleting what I thought was bloatware resulting in lost of contacts access and overall phone getting sluggish. I also installed Go Launcher EX and had a blast customizing the screens, widgets, and icons. I havent even touched flashing ROMS YET. On go launcher I installed a memory and cache cleaner widget and am finding phone is always in the 300+mb out of the only 404mb available. Titanium gives a different reading more in my favor. I played with freezing apps and after the scare of loosing dialing from contact list function, I defrosted them all and find the phone to work faster even with almost everything functioning, including battery life.

What does this 400ish mb memory reading stand for and can it be adjusted or cached to the SD card? I am not sure if its some type of browser cache or ram but being rooted maybe I can tweak it or shut down the correct apps.

I just cant imagine being that much happier with any of the available verizon upgrades now. I have concerns over the Samsung S3 antenna strength compared to a Motorrola as well as the Raxr Maxx battery life or ease of rooting. Who cares if Maxx has a better battery, nothing beats having fully charged extras in your pockets. I use very little carrier data and am not that concerned over 4g yet and have a feeling I will have this model a long time and am so thankful to find this forum and other fans. I cant imagine getting bored with this phone for a long time and will wait to upgrade until something REALLY impressive comes out.

easiest way to remove bloat, install eclipse 2.2.1 or cm7, as most bloat is already removed

What i would do is SBF the droid x2 to stock then root it. (dont update the droid x2)
Now install CyanogenMod 10 Rom and go from there.
    Hope it works

What method did you use to be rooted on 2.3.5?

Did you: root 2.3.4 then download OTA Rootkeeper then do the OTA update?

Just curious cause my rooted X2 is on 2.3.4 and I have been reluctant to do the OTA update for fear of loosing root. (lost root when i had a Droid X and went .621)

The method you mentioned will work fine but don't worry because there is a direct root method for 2.3.5 as well. Also the X2 is not like the X. You can move freely between 2.3.4 and 2.3.5 as much as you wish.

Edit: Here is the link for the 2.3.5 root method: [How to] Root 2.3.5/1.3.418 But as I said, if you are on 2.3.4 you can install voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, Protect root, Temp unroot, take the 2.3.5 OTA, open Voodoo and restore root.

The only ROM available for 2.3.5 is Eclipse though. It is a very stable Gingerbread ROM, just wanted you to be aware there aren't really options. If you plan on installing this, you NEED to delete the SU Backup in Voodoo after your restore root.
