I've been reading posts to find out the best way to root my Droid X2 with Gingerbread 2.3.3 from Verizon. I have already tried the Gingerbreak 1.2 with USB debugging. Is there a work around that will work on my device?
Bigfish im not that familiar with the DX2 but found this. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...d-p3droid.html

hey im currently running 2.2.2 rooted on the droid x2
my goal is to upgrade to gingerbread using the p3 droid file and using tenfars motodx2 bootstrap
so i go to the motodx2 boot strap app and yes i give it root access/permission
i click install recovery and it says success
then plug in ac adapter and click recovery mode.
it takes me to the menu with green text.
i wipe dalvik cache and cache
then go to install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card, click on P3Droid-DX2-patched _GB_update.zip
then the problem starts
it says this:
Verifying current system...
assert failed:apply_patch_check("system/app/VCastMusic.apk" , then theres a long series of numbers in parenthesis
then it says E:Error in /emmc/P3Droid-DX2-patched _GB_update.zip
(Status 7)
installation aborted.
sorry for the long post but its really been bugging me all day.
any idea as to what the problem can be?
thanks in advance
Looks like you have bloat ware either frozen or removed.
Since the GB PATCH is built directly into the official motorola update it still depends on having an interact system partition. Any modification to it will result in a failed instal.
You have multiple choices. You can replace all the bloat manually and try again. You can 2.2.2 sbf and factory reset, reroot, bootstrap, and install the pre root. You can buy the Team Black Hat app which gives you access to the AIO (All In One) gingerbread update, this version of the update doesn't depend on intact system partitions so it will upgrade you no matter what mods you've done. Lastly you can use the 2.3.3 sbf and use the D3 root method to root gingerbread directly.
Cheers

iPhone - You're holding it wrong
you can SBF back and try again. Or....why go to pre-rooted? Why not just SBF back to 2.2....take OTA to 2.3.3...then root? I mean this is pretty much what Jhude said but this is by far the best method to follow.
