Wi-Fi tether for X2 2.3.3 Gingerbread confirmed working.

Tethering happily works, just instal WiFi Tether v3.1 beta 2 and set the profile to Motorola X (CDMA) and you're good to go.

I'm afraid I can't speculate on that. All I can tell you is tethering is supposed to be disabled until you agree to the terms of that service and begun paying the monthly fee. Only then is the tethering feature supposed to work.

Ditto, Been using it pretty much nonstop since my ISP ruined my home LAN (long story, if any of your ISPs want to install ubee equipment in your home, don't let them)

Due to the locked boot loader and by proxy the inability to modify the kernel, user access control is not available at this time.
