I have never tested but have to believe it would as nothing would be running. With that said, the power draw while the screen is off is probably minimal.

I think you will find the difference to be pretty negligible but I also have never tested it. My phone does charge much faster with the AC adapter than with the USB, however.

It does, not by a mile or anything, but it is noticeable. If you need a quick charge, and you know you won't need the phone for a little bit, power it down and you'll get more of a charge out of it than if the phone was on.

I've tried it but if your rooted and running custom rom's it will power back up
DROID x2 2.3.4 running eclipse 1.3
