well you used a lot of techincal terms, sums and all that, not sure what it is but everything else you said sounds like whats happened to me over the last few days.....download many different versions of many different files trying to get this thing working again... i've sbf'd it probably 100 times by now and ive never had problems... except this last time it failed due to a dying battery, so when I tried to re-sbf it, i think i used some .621 and now NOTHING works (mostly the phone itself does but not very well). i dono if i downloaded a corrupt sbf or what, but like i said ive tried it a bunch of times after and im left with.. well a phone but not a very smart one. I just want to go back to the .340 or.. not sure whatever it was before the .621 that i had rooted, liquid smoothe, all the goddies... can anyone help me with that? is this in the same realm? sorry if its not, im not great with computers but much better than the average doofus. thanks.

    EDIT:

im actually not sure about anything anymore... it used to be so easy to look for a specific stock sbf file and know it would work.. I cant seem to find anything now, or maybe im just looking in the wrong places... any one have any links to a proper .621, or like .340, preferably both, can i even go back? can i even root? help me obi wan, your my only hope..

    EDIT:

just tried again, got this error in boot loader

    NEW_MAP Blank
    Service Req'd
    Battery OK
    OK to Program
    Transfer Mode:
    USB

I should have rebooted when I was done... lordy

If you used the .621 sbf then there is no going back sorry. You can still flash any second init ROM though. Also search this forum for the thread titled "important info for .621" and in the second post there are links to blur based ROMs that Goose so kindly patched. Sorry I don't have the link handy.

2nd init is just a different initialization process that allows for custom ROMs like CM or any of the ICS ROMs. I don't know what you mean by 'any device' in the future. Firmware is device specific. But if you get Another X and its already on .621 then it will be the same. Yes you can root .621.

I am haveing the same problems working on a friends rooted X. It was running Liberty 2.0 and started acting the same way the above device does. I too have tried everything I can think of. Different cables, sbfs etc. What kind of hardware issue could cause this. Since the device is on .605, If i had the .621 update.zip could I load it from stock recovery. Phone will not boot into clockwork.

Part 1: My girlfriend told me her Droid X was acting funny. Not rooted, it is running 4.5.621.MB810 OTA. Lots of force closes, random reboots, and any changes made to apps revert upon reboot, making the phone practically unusable (but at least it charges). Backed up her data to my PC first and then tried factory reset from the privacy menu, simply restarts phone at the triangle menu. I used the volume rockers to perform factory reset from this menu. It says that it is formatting /data and /cache for only a few seconds, then says complete. Upon rebooting phone, all apps and data are still present, nothing has changed. I've tried doing battery pulls and getting to the triangle menu from boot, same result. At this point I assumed it just needed to be reflashed because the factory reset appears to be having no effect whatsoever on the file system.

Notes: I've tried pulling the battery, removing the SD card and leaving it in, using the Motorola and other cables, and several more hours worth of permutations to fix this problem. The phone is out of warranty, and I don't care whether it gets rooted or not. I just want to be able to wipe it and start with a fresh install. At this point I'm starting to wonder if this is a hardware issue. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
My Droid X is doing the same things discribed above. It is totally stock with 4.5.621.MB810 OTA. I haven't tried any SBF or other roots to it. Just one factory reset in Feb 2012. How can I just wipe it or get it back to factory?

    Thanks.

If you simply want to completely wipe it, Turn if off. Hold the home key + the power key. You will see a screen with a triangle on it. Press both volume keys at the same time to enter stock recovery. Scroll down to wipe data/factory reset and select it. If you want to perform a SBF for whatever reason there are links in my signature for the file you will need and a guide on how to do so.

I've done that too with no luck. It always comes back the same as it was on a particular day in early November. I'll lose texts, call history, etc back to that day. All the data and history prior to that is still there. The same thing happens if I power it off then turn it back on...back to early November.

    Thanks
