I've never used fastboot to flash a boot.img but I'm sure you need to command a partition to flash like:

    fastboot flash boot boot.img

    program | command | partition | file

don't type that in exactly but look into where you need to flash the boot.img to

Fastboot won't work on the DX, but apparently it works on the x2 also but I'm looking for Goose's response but it only works on unlocked phones.

Actually reading it as sd_shadow said the error you are receiving is most likely caused by drivers. Check to see what version of Motorola drivers you have installed, and post them here. If you have had multiple Moto phones connected to the PC in the past uninstall ALL the Moto drivers and reinstall fresh. And you not just the DX specific drivers which are auto-installed, but also the Moto USB drivers that allow SBF to interface properly.

    got it will do

2.2.28 is what i've been using. I'll uninstall them and reinstall them but those are what I've started with and still to no avail.

I will try what I've been doing again whenever I get my battery up and whatever comes of it I will let you guys no.

Once again I really appreciate the help you've been giving
