OK, I see them there now. From an organizational stand-point, I see why they are in the hacks section, but that's hidden to most of the new users. In fact, I forgot that's where they were. I ususally just click on the bottom of someone's tag (like yours). Most of the needless posts/threads made on this forum have to do with topics covered in the hacks section (e.g. how do I root, return to stock, make a backup,...).
If you want to keep the threads there I think it makes sense, but new useres need to be better alerted to them. Maybe the casual user doesn't think of rooting as a hack? I can't explain why they seem "hidden" to me by being in that section, but I just feel like they are.
Just ignore me![]()
OK, to my point. I see now that you have a good post-root guide. You have to go under forums to get there.
I'm just quickly tring to dart around and find this stuff and it's not overly obvious where things are. I think many new users are going to be equally confused, then they just start a thread asking how to root.
For the things I have to write for work, all the time we are reorganizing websites and publications. As the content grows, it helps to do that.
Last thing and then I'll shut up. How about a separate section for guides, right under Forums?
Example:
- Droid X Forum - The main area - The Droid X Forum
- Droid X Guides - Step-by-step instructions on popular tasks (must-read if new to X)
- Droid X News - News about the Motorola Droid X
- Droid X Discussion - General Discussion about the Droid X
- Droid X Help - Help section for your Droid X
- Droid X Apps - Discuss the latest Apps for your Droid X
- Droid X Games - Discuss the latest Games for your Droid X
- Droid X Hacks - Hack & Modify your Droid X
I agree with spodoc that it would be nice to have one stem-to-stern guide that covers from the moment you power up for the first time to having a fully rooted, backed up, and ROM'd phone. it would of course require some commitment to keep this up to date, but it seems that having such a guide stickied on (almost) every thread would cut down on the number of unnecessary or redundant posts.
Also, a guide that compares the various features of the most popular ROMs would be nice.
This is my first post, but ive been lurking for a while in preparation for buying my DX and i wanted to thank you all for the great resource you've created! I have really learned a lot without even having a phone to mess with.
Cheers!

How about the correct way of resetting battery stats. I have read discharge then fully charge, fully charge then discharge. I found this on Xda
This last method I am trying now. I got the 3500 extended battery and the life is no different than stock after a few different methods. Someone in that thread said just fully charge and use boot recovery to wipe stats. I have tried this. What works?! That is my question.1) Charge the battery to full till you get the full battery message
2) Use the phone till it is totally empty (stops turning on)
3)Charge again to full till you get the message again
4) Download and install a terminal shell application from the market
5) Enter the following "su" press enter
6) Enter the following "rm /data/system/batterystats.bin" press enter
Letting the battery run to zero is the same thing. You can also use the Advanced option in the boot manager to reset the battery stats
Yes that I know and have done a few times as well. I keep seeing the question asked, mainly in threads about extended batteries, but seeing multiple different ways and nothing seems consistent. I am certainly not stupid, but this issue has made me feel dumb and would like to see best advice pulled out and centralized... *** my small little selfish dream... for the moment***![]()
