[GUIDE] How to root your phone with zergRUSH
Original post by DooMLoRD at xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1321582
This method is known to work on all versions of the Droid X and X2 software updates. It does require that you use a PC to obtain root but the method VERY fast!
Just download the attached file, extract it using winzip/winrar
Go to the folder where its extracted and execute "RUNME.bat"
Read and follow the instructions on the screen!
Easy rooting toolkit (v3.0)
created by DooMLoRD
using exploit zergRush
(Revolutionary Team)
Credits go to all those involved in making this possible!
---------------------------------------------------------------[*] This script will:
(1) root your device using latest zergRush exploit (16 Nov)
(2) install Busybox (1.18.4)
(3) install SU files (binary: 3.0.3 and apk: 3.0.6)
[*] Before you begin:
(1) make sure you have installed adb drivers for your device
(2) enable "USB DEBUGGING"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)
(3) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(4) [OPTIONAL] increase screen timeout to 10 minutes
(5) connect USB cable to PHONE and then connect to PC
I have found that once you connect your phone to the PC the Motorola ADB drivers will be automatically installed so this method is really straight forward. Pretty much all you need to do is download it, run it, follow the instructions, connect your phone, set the USB mode to "charge only" and start the rooting process!

is it supposed to sit at the "daemon started successfully" screen for a bit?
-
A few seconds maybe, not too long. The whole process should only take about 2 minutes once you press any key to start it.

Hey thanks again. Yes I enabled both. I also got started ln this whole thing trying To run eclipse which I believe was a post of yours on how to. So I read quite a bit about it first. My phone did an update just a few days ago. So I don't need to worry about that do I ?

A long as the 2.3.5 update installs for you you're fine.
Did you get it rooted?

When I tried to grab the 2.3.5 it takes me to a file for the same version my phone is already on. So if I am still stock then I need to do the flash step to get it to 2.3.5 . Not rooted yet.
1.3.380. Is what I'm on and its 2.3.4 ginger.
