Correct, I tried both this root method and Pete's Motorola Root Tools and they both came back to the same thing. I dont know if this is relevant but when using petes root when the phone rebooted it got stuk at that bootloader 30.04 screen I mentioned earlier. I had to unplug the wire from phone press power button to shut it off then press power button again to turn on the phone as it was turning on I plugged the wire back into the phone and it would move onto the next step of petes tools which has 3 steps.
When i try to run it, I get stuck at the ---waiting for device message. I checked and i had unknown sources and USB Debugging enabled. to get the ADB drivers so i need to connect the phone in windows media, PC mode, or USB mass storage to do this?
IIRC usb mode. Alternatively you can manually install them, just download the latest x2 drivers from Motorola's site.

I am getting this as my message. It is not working, I tried a few other rooters as well for my droid x and also they are not going through, coming back either directory does not exist or read only errors.
I tried reinstalling the drivers.
I tried going into the sd card and making every directory not read only.
I tried toggling between charge only and pc mode, and put it back to charge only to run program.
I have debug on and am in charge only.
Anyone have any ideas I have 2.3.4 with the recent Verizon update.

Go to XDA Developers forum. Search zerg rush. ( I think that's it) DoomLord should be able to help you. He did me when I was having rooting trouble.

For what it is worth, I just updated OTA from rooted froyo to GB 605. To get root back i first tried the zergrush but for whatever reason it failed the first go, so i tried D3 easy root v7. With D3 it appeared to be a successful effort since i was getting superuser notifications for my apps that needed root but even though i had superuser on on app i could not access the apps root functions.... and after a couple of unload reloads,,,, i decided to run zergrush again and tada i had root and Titatanium Backup recognized the root this time , however TIB did not like the root so TIB offered to clean it up... and after the TIB cleanup the root functions in my apps are working correctly...![]()
