    Low on Space Error

    Hi all,
I've searched the forums and google for answers but haven't been able to solve this in a few days. I've been running CM7.1-Kang (CM4DX by Rev) for months without a problem. However, a few days ago I woke up to a problem. There was a notification for "Low on Space - Phone storage space is getting low" and text messages were not received since storage was full. I have tried clearing cache & dalvik in clockwork mod recovery, app cache (facebook, gmail, browser etc.) and cleared all old txt msgs. None of these things fixed the problem so I tried restoring a backup I had in clockwork mod, this also did not work. I do not have any large apps or games installed, the largest app I have is google maps @ 11.61MB. I've never had this notification before and think something had to happen as opposed to space slowly filling up. My phone current says 6.5GB used and 83MB free in internal storage.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? I've found a couple of forums with similar experiences with other phones but no resolution. At this point I'm thinking SBF and reroot... Hopefully someone has an easier answer!

    Thanks.
    -Bob

Really funny that I found this post. I'm currently running the same (flashed 04/28 last day or 2), and I found same problem on my phone not 30 minutes ago. Phone was fc'ing like crazy. I was able to wipe all and restore nandroid I made the other day prior to flashing. I have NO idea what is up. I had 0 storage space. After restoring nandroid I had 5.8 gigs. If the restore nandroid didn't work, I was going to sbf as well. I'd try wiping data, cache and dalvik and then try to restore the nandroid. If that doesn't work I'm not sure what else you can do, unless you have a nandroid of a different rom and restore that until someone comes along with a fix.

Edit: The only thing I did today was purchase BigDX Slick ADW theme and install that. Can't imagine that would be the culprit, but right now that's what I'm focused on.

    milski65,
Your post reminded me that I did not clear data when I restored my backup... I gave that a shot and now I'm sitting with 6.2gb free on my internal storage. Thanks! I would like to know what caused the problem. The only thing that I changed recently was updating apps, on that list was google apps such as google drive...

Excellent. Glad you didn't have to sbf. I posted about this issue on rootz., but they are currently down. If I find any information I'll let you know.

I don't know if this info will help anyone else, but I had this same problem pop up today on my Droid X with Liberty. I tried to do a current back up before I went back to an old one, and it hung up while backing up the data at the Tombstone_05 file. After a Google search told me those were some kind of error log files, I decided to try deleting them and see what happened. I found the tombstone files is the /data/tombstones folder, and as soon as I deleted the "12kb" file that had been created today, my available space went from 120MB to 5.8GB. I am assuming one of the recent updates is causing a problem, but I am not enough of a programmer to know how to diagnose it beyond this. I was just glad to find a fix so I didn't have to go through the hassle of installing a 3 month old backup and then all the updates.

I hit this issue as well and found my /data/tombstone to be using 6.0G. Specifically the problem file was /data/tombstone/tombstone_03. I guess all those FCs finally filled up my internal memory. Deleting all the /data/tombstone/tombstone_* files fixed it.
