help: can't boot into clockworkmod recovery

    hello everyone,

I am currently running android 4.0.1 with EncounterICSX Beta 3. According to ROM Manager, I am have Clockworkmod Recovery 5.0.2.0 flashed. I want to flash CM9 which I have downloaded and on my SD card.

From ROM Manager, I can not reboot into recovery. I also cannot install rom from sd card. Both of these simply reboot my phone. I can't boot into recovery with Droid 2 Bootstrapper. I tried manually booting into recovery by holding power and volume down but that did not work.

I think flashing an older version of CWM might fix the problem, but I couldn't figure out how.

    pre-thanks for the help.

You definitely can't use D2bootstrapper. Did you try getting to CWM from the power menu?

You mean by holding down the power button and hitting boot in to recovery? If so, than yes, I did. No luck.

I found out that I am running an old version of ROM Manager (v4.8.0.6). I tried to update it from the Market but it doesn't install. It actually gets to 100% and stops. I downloaded the .apk (v5.0.0.7) and tried to install it manually but I get an error, "Application not installed. An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed."

There's a way to do it using ADB but I've never done it that way. Maybe someone will chime in. Since you are getting ready to flash anyway it might be a good idea to SBF.

Reflash cwm and reboot. Watch for the blue led when rebooting and push volume down button and select the recovery option

Yes, I have done that. I get three options under the main recovery option. The only one that does not give an error is the "stock recovery" which just takes me to the...wait. I had just done a factory reset with the bootloader, then I went to the android boot menu to check what happened when i pushed "lastest recovery" for this post. It took me straight to CWM. which didn't happen before. yeah!

But now I am stuck with a rom manager logo on my screen. I pushed install zip from sd card. Now I just have a logo.

Oh, I see now. All the menu options take me to the logo screen and nothing happens. Even power off and reboot. Why is that?

I feel like an idiot now. I was using the power button to select like in the bootloader. When I used the camera button, it worked. Installing CM9....

crap. well, I thought I had successfully installed CM9 but now, after the Moto logo during boot I get a blank screen. Not and off screen, a blank-black-on screen. To get out of it, I have to pull the battery.

You used the wrong sbf file... The grey/white logo is froyo... You need to sbf using the 4.5.602/605 sbf... The moto logo should be red...
