General Question on Wifi tether/hotspot

DOH! I installed Liberty3 v2.0, and the Android Wifi Tether from googlecode, and apparently they are detecting my attempts to use WIFI tether still. I am still getting forwarded to the https://dunsp.vzw.com.... page.

Anyone else see this? I might have made a critical mistake when I told Titanium backup to restore missing apps and all system settings.

Anyone know?

Yeah, I tried again just now. Fresh install of Liberty3 v2.0, and Superuser fix. Then android wifi tether.....same results. 3G notifier goes white, and all accesses are forwarded to vzw wifi hotspot signup page. Arg.

I think my only option left is the the RadioComm procedure right?

I have a nandroid of Liberty 3 v2 from 12/3/11 and I was using beta 6 or 7. Can't remember which but I'm sure it worked then. Also can't recall if I flashed wug at that time. If it doesn't work now that might be a problem for future use. You've tried a variety of the wifi apks? If tethering is a big issue you may want to look into Vortex rc1 and download the beta 6 or 7. Although I'm wondering if that even works now. Haven't tried tethering in a month now.

I only tried one version of the wifi apk, it was wifi_tether_v3_1-pre115. Is there another I should be using?

Tether isn't a huge deal for me, but it is the primary reason for to use a custom rom. Once a year or so when I take my family on vacation, it would be nice for my wife to be able to tether her Kindle and my kids to tether their 3DS's off my phone. I know it won't be blisteringly fast, but my wife can look at FB and talk with friends.

Try beta 6 or 7. Those are the only 2 I have on my phone and had not had an issue with either liberty or vortex. Again, it's been a little over a month since I tried tethering. On liberty I can't remember if I flashed wugs tether patch, but I'm positive I did on vortex. You should look in to wug.

Yes you have to patch it now. Also maybe try setting your device as Droid x in wifi tether app first. This just worked for a friend on stock rooted no patch.

I tether as my main connection, I can definitely help. Just let me know....I would have edited top post but forum app wouldn't let me....

Funny, 10 minutes before you posted this, I gave the WUG patch a try, on stock rooted GB. Works like a champ.
