Flashing Rom

Hey don't know if first post went through. When you flash the rom do you lose all of your apps you have on your phone like email,contacts etc. please advise i'm new to this

No. As soon as you sign into your google account you'll get your contacts and gmail back. Just make sure you have it all synced now. You can use titanium backup to backup your apps. Your paid apps will be in the market. You'll be fine just make sure it's all backed up. Just go in settings > accounts > then press your google acct and sync everything.
You can also backup your contacts to your sd card. Just press your contacts app then pres menu then export to sd card. That way you can always import them back to your phone. Just double protection.

Apps can be backed up with titanium backup ..very useful when flashing and sbfing...contacts are synced through Google account as well as any paid apps you have
