Phone randomly locking up, shutting down, and requiring battery pulls

Using either Fission or ApeX I cannot seem to escape any sort of random lock ups or shut downs that usually require a battery pull.

I have been going back and forth between the two with no avail. Last night I installed a fresh install (Data/cache wipe) of ApeX and sure enough, already this morning I wake up the phone to a frozen lock screen which cannot be shut off unless I battery pull.

Any one have any advice as to what could be the culprit? I have even stopped using Launcher Pro with the idea that it was sucking away memory.

Any help would be appreciated. I would hate to go back to stock.

First, you should verify that you are on the correct version for those roms. Second, you should uninstall launcher pro and see if you still get freezes.

Yes, the latest version of those ROMs are for 2.3.340. Also maybe try widget locker and no lock together to see if that stops the freeze ups at the lock screen. Try gummy, I've never had s reboot on it

I'm running the 2.6.32.9-gca645b6 Kernel. I thought that should be the latest but perhaps not?

The lock screen freeze was that one time when I woke up the phone and it was frozen there, normally when these hang ups happen nothing lights up at all - Including buttons nor screen and a battery pull/reboot is necessary.

At the moment I have reinstalled Fission 2.56 with the Froyo theme. I am running it pretty barebones with the default launcher and only the minimal apps I use to see if perhaps it is simply a bad app that is giving me the problem. I was always used to a reboot here and there once in a while, after all even on stock these things happen sometimes, however this is literally once or twice in a 48 hour span.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

you want to check system version, not kernel. I think the roms you are running require you to be on version 2.3.320 or 2.3.340.

May be a dumb question, but you did update your phone to system version 2.3.320 or 2.3.340 (bootloader 30.04) right? You can't just install the rom and assume you're updated. You must physically update your phone or you'll have problems.

Are you OC'ed? You could have it set too high. Have you made any major system changes on your current rom? I tried to put Blur e-mail on Gummy Jar and had similar problems. Are you using Titanium to restore apps/data. If you're restoring all user data that's most likely the problem.

Give us some feedback of things you're doing or not doing and someone should know how to fix it.

My Droid x did this for a while and I just sent it in and got a CPO. I have had a single randomn reboot since I got it( which has been a week now) and it has beeen running faster then my previous Droid x. If you can't find out what the problem is I advise you to do the same that I did.

The last SBF I used was less than a month ago and that was the 2.3.34 SYSTEM_Only.sbf. At the time I was still running the original leaked 2.2 update, rooted, from right after the X's launch and wanted to update to the latest OTA from Verizon.

Should I be updating and running this ?

    My bootloader is 30.01

The only thing I am using Titanium for is to either freeze or uninstall specific items without using scripts, such as ADW from ApeX or the Moto Gallery from Fission. Although under ApeX I tried to clear out the rest of the Blur stuff I didn't want, such as Backup Assistant and the Social Messaging BS. I have considered that that may be a culprit as well but then again, it was running even after removing these.

My X has run pretty well overall but lately things have gotten a bit dicey...
