Droid X install Issues after Milestone SBF and Root

Hello, I am hoping someone here can help me, I am having some issues with a Droid X that i tried to backout of .621, Root, then ROM, Problem described below.

Had a Droid X on .621 not rooted. Wanted to root the phone so i used the method below.

Using this guide i have successfully Flashed the .604 milestone file, Rooted the .604. Then flashed the CM7 file listed. I want to switch over to liberty or another solid ROM. CM7 seems a little buggy.

But when i flashed the Liberty ROM after flashing and rooting the milestone .604 it bricked the phone. Went as far as installing liberty, but then booted to the bootloader on the reboot after install, no farther. This forced me to re-sbf the milestone rom. When i tried to load CM7 thats listed in the write up it loaded fine.

Did this happen because i was trying to flash from the milestone ROM? Should i have flashed from CM7? Has something been changed on the phone so it wont work with certain roms?

This is the version of liberty i tried to install over milestone:

I have not tried to flash over Cm7, so maybe that will work? Or maybe im trying to flash the wrong version? Can anyone recommend another version or entirely different rom thats super stable? Any help would be appreciated as i am stuck with a phone in bad shape.

So being on Cm7 now, I would download and flash both the Kernel fix and the Wifi fix in clockwork and then flash one of the listed ROMs? Or do i have to be on the milestone .604 for these to work? Just making sure they will work coming from CM7? Thanks for the quick response.

Jeems is correct. If its blur-based such as Liberty it needs to be patched, so if you want that flash one of those versions. Make sure you snag the kernel zip and the WIFI lib fix as well while you're at it.

If you have a blur-based ROM that isn't listed in that thread PM me and I can patch it to work with .621.

2nd-init (CM7/MIUI/OMFGB/SSX/Any ICS ROMs) run as expected (i.e. do not need to be patched)

Liberty and vortex are probably the most popular of the blur based. Vortex is my favorite blur based rom. there is also a Vortex reloaded version here: [ROM] VorteX Reloaded (VXR) Now working with .621! - Droid X Development - RootzWiki. The .621 is there as well. The reloaded just has a few tweaks not on the RC1 release in the thread linked earlier.

Those are all stable. Most popular on that list would be liberty and vortex so flip a coin or just try them both.

Ok lastly, I appreciate all the immediate help. Really has put me on the right track, im going to apply the fixs and ROMs Jeems mentioned this weekend when i have time.

One thing i have to make sure of though, can i apply these on CM7? Or do i need to SBF back to the Milestone? Also will the install instructions listed below erase my SD card?? I assume not because it would erase the files im trying to flash, but i wanted to make sure i dont loose anything vital. Thanks again, really informative.

Boot in to CWM.
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Wipe dalvik cache (under Advanced)
Format system (under Mounts and Storage)
then install the desired .zip.
then install fixes (kernel then WIFI) no wipes with either.

Yes you can flash from CM7 using the steps you listed.

Also wifi fix is only needed for blur roms. Do recommend the kernel flash tho
