    Camera/gallery problems after gingerbread update

    Hey,

I have non-rooted Droid X, and ever since the gingerbread update I've been having problems with the camera and gallery.

Whether it's a picture or a video, the gallery app will not let me delete anything that I take. If I press delete nothing happens, and if I go to the actual folder and delete the file from there, the thumbnail still shows up in the gallery.

    Any thoughts?

The gallery app needs to refresh your SD card to get rid of thumbnails it doesn't need. You can do this by plugging your DX into your computer via USB cable and selecting USB Mass Storage mode from your notification bar.

Or Widgetoid can put a unmount & remount SD card button on a home screen.

You can also download the Quickpic app from the marketplace and use it instead of the gallery app, it refreshes the SD card media on it's own.

I had previously unmounted/mounted my SD card, and just plugged it into my PC as mass storage and neither did the trick.

Do you think it's a faulty OS install?

Then plug into the computer and delete the photos via your PC.

The thumbnails and located in the DCIM/thumbnails/ has all the thumbnails for your photos. You can navigate here with your PC when connected via USB and delete the offending thumbnails.

Just be careful not to delete thumbnails for the photos you want, I did this accidentally and I lost the actual photos and not just the thumbnails.

It's an issue with the gallery, it's not a great app and Quickpic is much better.

Quickpic is great and did regenerate thumbnails of its own, but it has not fixed my Camera issue. I tried deleting all the contents from DCIM folder including the thumbnails. Is there any way to connect camera with Quickpic?
