Not getting gmails

About a week ago my droid x stopped automatically syncing my two google accounts. If I go to settings -> accounts, then click on one of my two google acccounts, i have three options:

"Sync Contacts (touch to sync now) - last synced dd/mm/yyy hh:mm"
"Sync Gmail (touch to sync now) - last synced dd/mm/yyy hh:mm"
"Sync Calendar (touch to sync now) - last synced dd/mm/yyy hh:mm"

I'm not sure when it changed, but previously when going to this settings page, rather than the "touch to sync now" option, there was a check box for each of the three to either enable or disable syncing.

I'm running andorid 2.2.1, system version on the x is 2.3.340.MB810. The last thing I installed was "My Tracks" and that was at least a week before i started having the sync issue. I tried removing and re-adding one of the google accounts but nothing changed. I've seen other posts on forums with people having similar problems but no solutions. anybody have any ideas?

(sorry if this issue has been addressed somewhere but i didn't see anything in the forum about it).

just found this in another thread. add the "power control" widget to one of your homescreens, it has an option to enable or disable sync. if you enable it there then go back to account settings, the check boxes for each sync function return. looks to be working so far.

anybody else run into the same issue? if this was done in intentionally, it seems pretty ridiculous.
