Boot Into Recovery From Power Off State

This works for me too all I had to do was make sure I held both buttons down and not let go until the clockwork mod came up. I wonder if I could have used this method to unbrick my phone when it was stuck on that m boot logo yesterday... oh well sbf worked fine

Yup, that's the benefit of this, is to avoid SBF and install a backup.

Tried again held down power and vol down all the way to the lockscreen..i believe I am missing something

I tried the proceedure, and it worked....sweet. Now though, more often than not, when I turn on the phone after I've shut it off.....which isn't often, it boots up into recovery. This happened before trying this power off proceedure as well though.

I flashed boot strap clicked success
Opened rom manager clicked flash clock work, droid x..clicked ok on the success window.
powered down/pulled bat (tried both)..pressed volume down and power held both.
Always boots straight to gummy jar.
should I be waiting for the moto logo before pressing buttons?

hmm idk. you could try it but what u described works for me and others. maybe try vol up? thats what they said on XDA but didnt work for me.

Vol up stuck at moto logo..tried 4 times...then vol down but just booted as normal...i think up may do it..but I am walking around meijer and people think I am crazy... Hah try later

Checked one time to make sure it wasn't going to boot into recovery anyway like it does sometimes...didn't press anything, and it booted normally.

Pulled battery, pressed the volume down/power button, and it went to recovery!

Very nice...
