That's just the way the phone's made.

I like it better this way. I'm coming from a BB storm, where the phone will rotate to either side. It used to piss me off because, say I have something on the screen that I CAN'T rotate myself...then I need to turn the phone to look at it in the correct orientation, but it would rotate it again.
