Contact pictures, multiple contact accounts and linking question

In various apps, facebook, contacts, LPP (Launcher Pro Plus) Friends widget, Handscent, etc... it shows the contact picture of the person from the contacts profile. Nearly all the profile pictures come from Facebook. Sometimes the person's picture doesn't show up in an app. In one instance, it had to do with the format of the person's phone number. I fixed that. However if the person has a linked profile, it picks one (or none) of those pictures but not necessarily the one I want.

Two Examples:
1st) My wife has three contact entries, two are linked. On the linked contact, everything works fine. Her picture comes up in every app that can display a picture. The 3rd contact (Twitter) that has a picture of an egg. No problem, I can just link this account to her other two. However, now every app shows her picture as the egg. I tried reversing the order of linking the accounts but it always shows the egg. I ended up deleting that contact account.

2nd) For whatever reason, I have 5 contact entries, all linked. In Handscent, I am shown with a generic picture and a question mark. In LPP Friends widget, I am shown with an egg (I assume the twitter contact entry).

- How does it decide which of your linked accounts to pull the picture from?

- On Froyo, how do you force it to pull the picture from facebook from every contact entry? My only choices are "Gallery", "Astro" and "Files". ( I think camera is too). Facebook is not even an option.

- Do I really need 5 contact entries for myself? They were all put there by various apps, such as: Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, etc... Can I safely delete all but one without affecting those apps?
