WEIRD writing comes up in my instant messages
Sometimes when I text certain people all they see on their end is weird writing, like Chinese symbols or something. It's been doing it since I bought the phone in July. My update to froyo hasn't fixed the problem either.
What should I do?
Anybody else having this problem?

I have this problem; when people receive messages from me the message is often full of symbols; like a question mark between each letter or something else. It doesn't happen all the time but the message showing on my screen looks fine.
i know it's weird.... is there any solution
Enable a Signature
I know this is an older thread, but if you haven't figured it out I might have a solution.
I never had a signature, but read somewhere that if you just take special characters out of your signature it nips that problem in the bud. So I enabled a signature (I didn't actually type any text for my signature) and it seemed to solve the problem.
Don't know if it's a weird glitch or if this will be a permanent fix. But it worked for me!
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the suggestion. The problem continues to occur. I have wondered if it is a problem on the receiving end of the text and not a sending issue. An interesting observation which may be totally irrelevant to the problem is that there are only 2 contacts who report receiving these messages; they both have AT and T service and I have Verizon.
Have you tried using an app like handcent?
