Returning X Cant adjust backlight

wondering if anyone else is having this issue. battery drains quickly brightness is turned all the way up (not on auto) i can lower it on the slider but it wont actually dim the screen. i took it to verizon and a tech checked it and said they would send me out a new one....after the 27th

have you tried the power control widget? long press somewhere on an empty space that is at least 4x1, choose widgets> power control. the far right button toggles high, low, and auto

yep along with a couple other widgets and no matter what screen stays at 100% brightness even though the slider is at 0

Try a factory reset.

did that. verizon tech messed with it for a good 2 hours said he had no clue why it wont dim. in fact the whole store was looking at it they said it was the first x they had come back. they have a new one on order for me.

Having the exact same problem here. Brightness is at max even though slider is at 0. Have two X's to compare -- one is fine, the other clearly broken.

Assuming we will have to exchange phones, what's the best way to preserve all settings, apps, etc.? In other words, is there a way to image my phone?
