I moved up from a BB Storm where I was able to program what the buttons on the outside did. I used one of the side buttons to launch the camera. Is there a way to program the red button on the side of the X to launch/open the camera, I hate having to go through the icon.

It already does. If you hold it down for a second you will feel the phone vibrate, then the camera will come on.

Mine doesn't launch the camera, it opens a new message. Is this some setting from launcher Pro, or something I changed? I would like to hvae it open the camera, if possible.

I didn't know about it till someone posted abouts it awhile back lol.
I use LP and it still launches the camera.... you could try to check settings and see.

Mine will launch the camera most of the time. Other it won't do anything and I'll have to go to the app to start the camera. Why?

Try this...I am not sure if your Phone is Rooted but Click the Icon Tray and go to Settings then Click "Sound Settings" scroll down to "Haptic Feedback" and try unclicking this options...It does make a noise or Viberate when checked...Uncheck it see what happens...
